The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has on Thursday arrived in Imo State for the commissioning of new projects within the state.
It was reported that the jet carrying the president arrived safely at the Sam Mbakwe Airport in the state capital of Owerri where he was welcomed by dignitaries.
Showing appreciation towards the presidential visit to the state, Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State in a post on Facebook welcomed Buhari, and stated that he (the president) will enjoy the hospitality and conviviality of the people of Imo.
He further appreciated President for making time out of his tight schedules in order to commission some of their completed people-oriented projects in the state.
The post reads, “It is with a heart full of gratitude that I, on behalf of the good people of Imo State, welcome His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR to the Eastern Heartland on a working visit to commission some of our completed people-oriented projects.”
“Mr President, we are delighted to have you in Imo State on this august occasion despite your tight schedules and it’s our pleasure that while in Imo State, you will enjoy the hospitality and conviviality of our people”, Governor Uzodinma posted.
Meanwhile, before the arrival of the president in the state, the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had declared a sit-at-home stating that the president is not welcome to the state.
Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had also stated that the President visit to the state was to mock people of the state.
